The t-shirt features a Wigan Casino All Nighter design. Back in 1973, this legendary club in the heart of Northern England became a beacon for those music-lovers with a taste for the more exciting, daring & exotic music coming from the US independent soul scene. The whole project was such a success that in 1978 the highly influential, uber-cool US music magazine Billboard hailed Wigan Casino to be ‘The Best Disco In The World’; edging ahead of New York’s Studio 54. It has also inspired a documentary, ‘This England’, and as recently as 2003 a stage-play by Urban Expansions which debuted at Manchester’s Contact Theatre. To the present day Wigan Casino remains synonymous with the Northern Soul genre.
