The PFJ are portrayed as committee-obsessed, hapless political bunglers whose real enemy tends to be a rival faction, The Judean People’s Front, with whom they have several altercations throughout the film. The PFJ are clearly a reference to the fragmented state of left-wing politics, in particular Trotskyism, & are lampooned as savagely as the Romans.
